Cross River Assembly Removes Local Government Chairman for Misconduct

The Cross River House Assembly voted to remove Theresa Ushi as the Chairman of Bekwarra Local Government Area due to alleged misconduct and financial mismanagement. The decision followed accusations of corruption, misuse of authority, and violation of due process.

The Assembly also directed the Cross River Independent Electoral Commission to conduct a bye-election within 30 days to fill the vacant position. Egbung Odama was tasked with overseeing the council's administration in the interim.
