Cross River's Deputy Governor Highlights Security and Growth

Dr. Peter Odey, the Deputy Governor of Cross River, addressed a delegation from the Creative, Entertainment and Events Community (CEEC) at the Government House in Calabar. He stated that the administration of Governor Bassey Edet Otu is focused on governance and aims to let its achievements speak for themselves, despite political criticism.

Odey noted that the government inherited a state needing restoration and has since initiated renovations and new projects to support sustainable growth. He emphasized improved security as a key achievement, creating a favorable environment for business, citing Akpabuyo as an example.

On workers' welfare, he mentioned that Cross River was among the first states to implement the ₦70,000 national minimum wage, with payments starting in December 2024, and assured that no pensioner is owed. Mr. Ejor Ndifon, spokesperson for CEEC, praised the government's efforts in enhancing the socio-economic well-being of residents and supporting the creative industry, announcing plans for a Creative Youth Mega Walk to foster opportunities for young people.
