Nigeria Targets 1.9mbpd Crude Oil Output by NUPRC

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), led by Chief Executive Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, announced a target to increase the country's crude oil production to 1.9 million barrels per day. Currently, production has reached 1.86 million barrels per day, indicating a recovery path for the oil industry.

This announcement was made during a meeting with Zacch Adedeji, the Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, in Abuja on June 17, 2026. The collaboration between NUPRC and Nigeria Revenue Service aims to promote transparency and efficiency in oil and gas revenue collection.

Eyesan emphasized the importance of addressing infrastructural constraints and enhancing human capacity within the industry. The NUPRC is focused on achieving its operational goals and ensuring that revenue collection processes are seamless and transparent.

The ongoing reforms and improved security around oil assets are expected to contribute to a gradual recovery in production levels, moving closer to the long-standing target of two million barrels per day.
