CSOs Urge Investment in Military Intelligence and Welfare

Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Nigeria, led by Tobia Ogb, are calling for improved investment in intelligence and personnel welfare to consolidate recent military operational gains against insurgents. In a quarterly independent report released on Tuesday, the CSOs commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their sustained operations against security threats across the country.

The report highlighted the progress made by the military, particularly in enhancing inter-service coordination and intelligence-driven operations to disrupt terrorist networks and criminal activities. It noted that despite the challenges posed by groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP, the military has adapted its tactics effectively.

The CSOs urged for greater investment in intelligence capabilities and personnel welfare to ensure long-term success, acknowledging the sacrifices made by troops. They also emphasized the importance of transparency and civil-military engagement to build lasting peace, recognizing the link between security and economic recovery in affected communities.
