CSOs Praise Army Chief for Welfare Reforms and Successes

The Coalition of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) commended Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, for his implementation of welfare-focused reforms aimed at boosting troop morale and enhancing the Nigerian Army's effectiveness in combating terrorism and security challenges. In a statement signed by Dr.

John Samuel Nangi, the reforms include a monthly salary adjustment to a baseline of 100,000 Naira, expansion of post-retirement housing programs, and improved welfare for retired soldiers. The CSOs noted that these welfare priorities have resulted in increased motivation and operational performance among military personnel.

They highlighted initiatives such as the Affordable Home Ownership Option for soldiers, which aims to provide decent accommodation for retired personnel. The coalition also acknowledged recent military successes, including the dismantling of terrorist logistics networks and the rescue of 44 students and teachers abducted in Oyo State.

They emphasized the need for continued collaboration between security agencies and citizens to maintain peace and security in Nigeria.
