CSOs Urge Senate to Focus on Oil Sector Reforms

A coalition of civil society organizations (CSOs) has called on the Nigerian Senate to halt its investigation into the alleged missing N210 trillion at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). The coalition, which includes Comrade Danesi Momoh, Princ Igw, and Ud Umanta, argues that the Senate's probe lacks factual basis and is a misuse of public resources.

They assert that the investigation is a distraction from critical issues affecting Nigeria's oil and gas industry, such as transparency in oil revenue management and regulatory inefficiencies. The CSOs emphasize that the Senate should prioritize substantial reforms in the petroleum sector rather than pursuing unfounded allegations.

They also express concern that the ongoing probe could damage investor confidence and tarnish the credibility of Nigeria's governance institutions. The coalition urges lawmakers to adopt an evidence-based approach and focus on enhancing accountability and sustainable growth in the sector.
