Anglican Bishop Urges Tinubu to Address Economic Hardship

During the first statutory synod of the Anglican Diocese of Oyo South held on Friday at St. John Cathedral in Akinmoorin, Oyo State, Rt. Rev. Olufemi Familoni called on President Bola Tinubu to introduce urgent measures to cushion the economic hardship faced by Nigerians amid ongoing reform policies.

Familoni expressed concern over the serious economic situation in Nigeria, particularly the impact of reform policies on vulnerable groups, including low-income earners, civil servants, and small business owners. He urged the federal government to implement stronger social protection measures and to focus on local product diversification, particularly in agriculture and manufacturing, to create employment and stabilize the economy.

Familoni also emphasized the importance of transparent economic management and called for urgent action in the power sector to support economic activities. He commended the efforts of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde in developing projects across the state.
