Dangote Refinery Exports 434M Liters of Petrol in March

In March 2026, Dangote Petroleum Refinery exported 434 million liters of petrol, according to a report from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA). The refinery produced a total of 1.49 billion liters of petrol during the month, with 1.06 billion liters supplied to the domestic market, indicating a substantial export surplus.

Aliko Dangote's refinery operated at an average capacity utilization of 93.62%. This production level translates to an average of 48.2 million liters of petrol per day.

Notably, Nigeria achieved a historic shift in its downstream petroleum trade, becoming a net exporter of gasoline for the first time, driven by increased output from Dangote's facility. The refinery also exported gasoline to East Africa, shipping 317,000 barrels to Mozambique.

Despite the impressive performance of Dangote's refinery, state-owned refineries remain largely inactive, with Port Harcourt and Warri refineries shut down.
