Dangote Refinery Denies Importing Petrol, Emphasizes High-Quality Production

Dangote Refinery has denied allegations of importing finished petroleum products, clarifying that it operates as a state-of-the-art merchant refinery in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos. The Chief Executive Officer, David Bird, explained during a media briefing that the refinery processes crude oil and intermediates to produce premium petroleum products and petrochemicals.

Bird highlighted the refinery's adherence to international standards, producing high-quality fuel that meets environmental benchmarks. He emphasized that the refinery does not release semi-finished fuels into the Nigerian market, ensuring that only fully refined products are supplied.

Dangote Refinery aims to transform Nigeria's fuel market by providing high-quality products and contributing to fuel availability while reducing foreign exchange pressures. Bird urged journalists to use accurate terminology and avoid spreading misleading information.
