Dangote Refinery Becomes Top Jet Fuel Exporter, Plans $10B Expansion

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has emerged as the world's largest single exporter of jet fuel, with plans to invest $10 billion in an expansion project aimed at increasing its processing capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day. This expansion is expected to be completed by February and will allow the refinery to respond swiftly to market shortages, particularly in aviation fuel, due to disruptions caused by conflicts in the Middle East.

David Bird, the CEO of the refinery, stated that the facility will diversify its crude supply sources, processing a broader range of feedstock from Africa, the Middle East, and the United States. The refinery currently produces 200% of its petrol potential and plans to build additional facilities, including a new linear alkylbenzene plant and a propane dehydrogenation plant.

The expansion project will enable the refinery to process 90% of Nigeria's oil output and aims to stimulate regional demand for low-cost fuel.
