Dangote Refinery IPO Draws Subscriptions From 90 Countries, 51 African Nations

Dangote Petroleum Refinery's public offering has set Nigerian capital market records with investor participation spanning Africa and globally.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has revealed that its current initial public offering drew subscription orders spanning more than 90 countries. Participants hail from 51 of Africa's 54 nations, positioning this as the continent's first truly pan-African public offering.
Such broad uptake reflects investor appetite for ownership stakes in one of Africa's largest industrial operations. The deadline for this offering is October 27, 2026.
Records have been shattered across Nigeria's capital markets by the refinery's offer. On its opening day alone, a new benchmark was established.
Within the first ten days, the previous African record fell. Retail investors, pension fund managers, institutional buyers, and asset management firms from multiple regions have formed the subscription base.
The geographic breadth of participation signals investor confidence regarding both refinery performance and the larger context of African-led manufacturing and industrial growth. Murat Erden, Chief Financial Officer at Dangote Group, described the offering as far more than a straightforward capital-raising endeavor.
Rather, he positioned it as a pivotal milestone for African financial markets and continental stewardship of critical industrial assets. Shifts in African investment patterns emerge from the investor interest distribution across regions.
Market participants throughout the continent now pursue direct exposure to major industrial projects. Financial performance reported by the refinery has bolstered the IPO's results, though specific subscription figures and oversubscription ratios remain undisclosed.
The offer terminates this month.
