Dangote Refinery Shuts Petrol Unit for Repairs

Dangote Refinery has temporarily shut down its petrol processing unit to address a technical issue involving a catalyst leak, as reported by Reuters. The Residue Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit (RFCCU) has been offline since August 29, with repair work expected to last at least two weeks.

The refinery, commissioned in January 2024 with a daily capacity of refining one million barrels, started producing petrol in September 2024. This shutdown is aimed at resolving the issue and ensuring the refinery's operational efficiency.

It marks a significant step in reducing Nigeria's reliance on imported fuel.
