Dangote Refinery to Supply 65M Litres of Petrol Daily

The Dangote Refinery is set to supply 60 to 65 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) daily to meet Nigeria's domestic demand, with an additional surplus of 15 to 20 million litres earmarked for export. This development, disclosed by Aliko Dangote, the President of Dangote Group, represents a landmark shift in Nigeria's downstream petroleum sector, aiming to eliminate the country's reliance on fuel imports and address recurring supply shortages.

The refinery's output exceeds Nigeria's average daily petrol consumption of 50 to 60 million litres, marking a decisive break from decades of fuel import dependence. The refinery's operational capacity is designed to produce 650,000 barrels per day, with current output exceeding expectations at 661,000 barrels.

Bayo Bashir Ojulari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC, highlighted the refinery's potential to redefine Nigeria's energy security and improve trade balance while stabilizing the naira and enhancing foreign exchange reserves.
