Dangote Discusses Succession Plans for Business Empire

Aliko Dangote, the 69-year-old President of Dangote Industries Limited, disclosed his succession plans during an interview with Ojy Okpe of ARISE News on 15 September 2026. He stated that one of his three daughters—Halima, Fatima, or Mariya—could potentially lead the multibillion-dollar business empire.

Dangote noted that his daughters already hold senior positions within the conglomerate and are involved out of their own interest rather than pressure from him. He expressed confidence in their capabilities, suggesting they might surpass his achievements due to their education and creativity.

Dangote also addressed the traditional expectation of a male heir, stating that having a son is not a priority for him. He emphasized the need for a professional governance structure to ensure the company thrives beyond his leadership, citing successful global companies like Microsoft and Apple as examples.

His vision includes preventing any individual family member from undermining the business.
