Dangote Refinery to Subsidize Transport Costs for Petrol

Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE has announced a plan to reduce petrol price disparities across Nigeria by subsidizing transportation costs from its Lekki facility to distant markets. Edwin Devakumar, Vice President of the refinery, disclosed this initiative during a media engagement with senior editors at the refinery complex.

The company aims to address the significant transportation expenses that contribute to higher petrol prices in northern Nigeria. By deploying more trucks and subsidizing these costs, Dangote Refinery seeks to ensure that motorists face minimal variations in petrol prices based on location.

Devakumar emphasized that the initiative is designed to expand the distribution of Dangote petrol nationwide and reduce the financial burden of transporting the product over long distances. He noted that petrol prices in Nigeria remain relatively low compared to neighboring countries, despite the challenges affecting fuel markets in the region.

The refinery's efforts are focused on making petrol prices more uniform across locations such as Sokoto and Kano.
