The statement, issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, indicated that neither Atiku nor his campaign had solicited or authorized this payment, which was labeled as "Contribution Electioneering Campaign." Shaibu emphasized the troubling nature of this incident, raising concerns about how unknown individuals obtained the private banking details of a prominent political figure.

He warned that if such confidential information could be accessed, it poses a risk to the financial privacy of all Nigerians. The statement suggested that this breach could expose individuals to threats from criminals.
