Declare state of emergency in Katsina, Zamfara over mass killings – ADC tells Tinubu

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in Katsina and Zamfara States due to the recent mass killings that have left 140 people dead in the last two months. The party highlighted the recent massacre in Malumfashi, Katsina State, where gunmen killed 30 worshippers in a mosque and burned 20 villagers alive, as evidence of the collapse of Nigeria's national security architecture.

The ADC criticized President Tinubu for neglecting urgent security challenges and traveling abroad instead of addressing the national tragedy. The party also called for a complete review of the nation's defense system and criticized the PDP governor for holding a political meeting in Zamfara on the same day that dozens of villagers were killed, calling it insensitive.

The ADC emphasized the need for both the ruling APC and the PDP to prioritize the well-being of Nigerians over political power.
