Delta State Legislature Approves 13th-Month Salary Bill

On September 16, 2026, the Delta State Legislature passed an executive bill for the payment of a 13th-month salary to public servants in Delta State. This initiative, led by the Oborevwori administration, seeks to provide statutory backing for the annual additional salary.

The bill was approved during its third reading in a plenary session presided over by Speaker Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor. The Assembly had previously suspended relevant standing orders to expedite the bill's passage, following a motion endorsed by House Leader Hon Emeka Nwaobi.

Speaker Guwor expressed gratitude to the members for their decision, emphasizing that the bill strengthens workers' welfare and demonstrates the government's commitment to the security and welfare of the people. He praised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for this welfare initiative, which he believes will enhance workers' morale and productivity.

Hon Edafe Emakpo, Chairman of the House Committee on Establishment, Ethics and Privileges, noted that the law aims to improve the welfare and productivity of workers across the state.
