Delta Governor Reveals Permanent Secretaries' Salaries

On Thursday in Asaba, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori disclosed that Permanent Secretaries in the state earn N900,000 monthly, compared to his salary of N503,000. This announcement was made during the inauguration of 12 four-bedroom terraced duplexes for Permanent Secretaries and the presentation of official vehicles to newly appointed officials.

The governor explained that the salary increase for Permanent Secretaries was a response to their concerns about directors earning similar salaries. He also mentioned that the Head of Service earns N1 million monthly.

Oborevwori highlighted his administration's focus on civil servant welfare, which includes providing official vehicles and support through various loan schemes. He noted that 302 public officers benefited from the Public Officers’ Vehicle Loan Scheme, and 119 received assistance through the Public Officers’ Housing Loan Scheme.

Additionally, he stated that the appointments of the new Permanent Secretaries were based on merit and aimed at ensuring representation from all local government areas in the state.
