Delta State Government Denies Armed Invasion at Airport

On Monday, the Delta State Government, through Secretary to the State Government Dr. Kingsley Emu, dismissed reports of an armed invasion at Asaba International Airport as entirely false. Emu explained that the security deployment observed at the airport was part of a drill exercise organized by the National Security Adviser.

This exercise, conducted at both Asaba International Airport and Ogwashi-Uku, aimed to simulate rapid response operations involving various security agencies and emergency responders. The drill was designed to demonstrate coordinated responses to threats such as terrorism, kidnapping, and banditry.

Emu confirmed that the simulation exercise had concluded and emphasized that adequate publicity was provided before and during the event. He assured that residents of Asaba Capital Territory and surrounding areas were informed about the exercise by the government and security agencies, urging the public to disregard the false online report.

The statement reaffirmed the Delta State Government's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens and residents.
