Nigeria Tests Emergency Response in Delta State Exercise

The Office of the National Security Adviser commenced a five-day multi-agency crisis response exercise in Delta State, codenamed Rapid Response 3 Crisis Response Exercise 2026, starting on Monday and concluding on Friday, September 11. This exercise, held in Asaba, aims to assess Nigeria's preparedness and capacity to respond to complex emergencies and security-related incidents.

Rear Admiral Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan, Director of the Presidential Command and Control Centre at ONSA, stated that the exercise is designed to test existing crisis response plans, coordination mechanisms, and operational capabilities of participating agencies. It will enhance inter-agency cooperation and effective crisis management.

The exercise will be conducted in four phases over five days, with the first two days for training, Thursday as the exercise day, and Friday for an after-action review. Ayo-Vaughan warned the public against panic due to increased security vehicle movements and emergency response teams, emphasizing that the exercise is not an actual emergency.
