Delta Surpasses Lagos in FAAC Allocations for Q2 2026

In the second quarter of 2026, Nigeria’s 36 states collectively received N2.39 trillion from the Federation Account, reflecting a N259.41 billion increase from the first quarter. Delta emerged as the largest beneficiary with N188.01 billion, an increase of N44.59 billion from Q1.
Rivers followed in second place with N172.03 billion, while Lagos, which had the highest allocation in Q1 at N200.21 billion, fell to third with N165.57 billion, a decline of N34.64 billion or 17.3%. The allocations for Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa also increased significantly.
Notably, four of the five largest recipients in Q2 were oil-producing states, with Lagos being the only non-oil-producing state among them. The report highlights the growing significance of VAT in state receipts, with Lagos remaining the largest net VAT recipient despite its overall drop in FAAC allocation.
Kano was the largest northern recipient in Q2, receiving N77.53 billion.
