Nigerian Cooking Gas Prices Rise Amid Global Market Volatility

Cooking gas prices have seen an increase across major Nigerian depots, adding financial pressure on households already facing rising costs in food, transport, and energy. Recent market data indicates that liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) suppliers, including Dangote Refinery, NIPCO, and Matrix, have adjusted their prices due to volatility in the international energy market.

Specifically, Dangote Refinery raised its LPG price to N980 per kilogram from N970, marking a N10 increase. NIPCO's LPG price is now N1,050 per kilogram, while Matrix in Warri is quoted at N1,100 per kilogram.

These adjustments at the depot level may lead to higher retail prices for consumers, who typically pay more after transportation and distribution costs. The increase comes amid global energy market volatility, with Brent crude trading above $100 per barrel, raising concerns about disruptions in Middle East energy supplies.

If the upward trend continues, households may face even higher costs for refilling gas cylinders, further straining their budgets.
