Rijo Shekari Defects from APC to PDP in Kaduna State

Rijo Shekari, a senior legislative aide to the Deputy Senate President, has officially defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the People's Democratic Party (PDP). He announced his decision on Tuesday during a meeting in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, aimed at expanding the PDP caucus.

Shekari stated that his move followed extensive consultations and was driven by a commitment to represent the interests and dignity of the people of Southern Kaduna. He expressed his belief that the PDP offers the right platform to advance the cause of his constituents.

Shekari indicated his intention to contest for the Zango Jaba Federal Constituency seat under the PDP, subject to the outcomes of the party's primaries. PDP leaders in the district welcomed his defection, describing it as a significant boost for the party, which they believe will strengthen grassroots mobilization and energize their base ahead of the primaries.
