Desmond Elliot Seeks Fourth Term, Denies Feud with Gbajabiamila

Desmond Elliot, a Nollywood actor turned lawmaker, formally declared his intention to seek a fourth term in the Lagos State House of Assembly during a visit to his Surulere constituency on Thursday. He dismissed reports of a rift with former Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, describing the allegations as unfounded and reaffirming his loyalty to Gbajabiamila, who is currently the Chief of Staff to the President.

Elliot urged constituents to overlook perceived shortcomings and emphasized the importance of experienced lawmakers in governance. He argued that replacing experienced legislators with newcomers could hinder development, as newcomers would need time to acclimate.

Elliot cited his legislative achievements, including interventions in road infrastructure, education, and healthcare, and mentioned spending N75 million on repairs in his constituency. Despite facing opposition from a coalition of stakeholders in Surulere who rejected his bid, Elliot characterized the political narratives surrounding him as propaganda and expressed his commitment to continuing his work for the benefit of his constituents.
