Desmond Elliot Seeks Forgiveness from Gbajabiamila

Desmond Elliot, who has represented Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos Assembly for over a decade, was seen on his knees before Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, asking for forgiveness. This moment followed a tumultuous political journey as Elliot aimed for a fourth term in 2026 but withdrew from the APC primary, alleging that his supporters faced intimidation.

In the primary, Barakat Odunuga-Bakare received 11,385 votes, while Elliot garnered only 270. The political tension escalated after Mudashiru Obasa was removed as Speaker of the Lagos Assembly in 2025, with Gbajabiamila indicating that Elliot's involvement in the crisis nearly cost him his position.

Elliot denied any wrongdoing, stating he was abroad during the events. Despite past controversies, including dismissing #EndSARS protesters and advocating for social media regulation, Elliot's apology suggests a willingness to mend political ties, particularly with Gbajabiamila, whom he has long regarded as a mentor.
