Nigerian DisCos Prioritize Paid Meters Over Free Meters in Q3 - Regulatory Report

In the third quarter of 2025, Nigerian DisCos favored paid meter installations over free meters despite the government's initiative. The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) reported that 228,614 end-users received meters during this period, with a significant number opting for paid meter schemes.

The report highlighted various payment frameworks and subsidy costs incurred by the federal government. Additionally, international bilateral customers and domestic customers made payments against cumulative invoices, impacting the sector's financial performance.
