Nigeria-China Partnership Celebrates 55 Years of Cooperation

Joseph Tegbe, the Director General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), extended warm congratulations to the Government of the People's Republic of China on the occasion of the Spring Festival, which coincides with the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nigeria and China. In his statement, Tegbe described this milestone as a testament to the resilience and steady expansion of the partnership, which has evolved since diplomatic engagement began in 1971.

He highlighted the comprehensive strategic partnership that spans infrastructure development, trade, industrial investment, and technological cooperation. Tegbe noted that China remains Nigeria's largest trade partner and a key contributor to infrastructure modernization, supporting various projects in rail, port, and power industries.

He emphasized a new phase in bilateral relations driven by a shift towards higher-value economic integration and highlighted a zero tariff initiative announced by the Chinese government for qualifying African exports, including Nigeria. This agreement aims to enhance access for Nigerian products to the world's largest consumer market, creating a strategic pathway for export diversification and job creation.
