Armed Forces of Nigeria Rescues 60 Kidnapped Victims

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) announced that troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) rescued more than 60 kidnapped victims and arrested 44 suspects during operations conducted nationwide between September 18 and 24. Maj. Gen. Michael Onoja, Director of Defence Media Operations, provided details during a briefing, stating that operations targeted terrorism, kidnapping, arms trafficking, and oil theft.

A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) jet disrupted terrorists transporting kidnapped victims in Kebbi State, leading to the victims' escape. Ground troops also rescued victims in Katsina, Sokoto, and Zamfara states, including 17 victims in Sokoto and seven university students in Katsina.

In the North-east, troops intercepted 44 family members of terrorists in Borno State. Additionally, troops arrested suspected informants and collaborators, including a suspected kidnapper in Borno who led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle.

In the North-west, four suspects were arrested for rustling cattle, and three others were apprehended in Katsina with funds intended for a terrorist kingpin.
