APC Chieftain Affirms Diaspora Nigerians' Political Rights

Prof. Tai Balofin, the chairman of APC USA, stated that Nigerians living abroad still possess their constitutional rights to political association and participation, following a Federal High Court judgment that deemed the establishment of political party chapters outside Nigeria unconstitutional.

Balofin's comments, made in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, acknowledged the court's ruling but argued that it does not extinguish the rights of the Nigerian diaspora to express political opinions and support political parties. He reiterated that the APC recognizes its diaspora chapters as per Article 31 of its constitution.

Balofin urged APC members across various regions, including North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Oceania, and Africa, to remain calm and continue supporting the party while awaiting the outcome of the legal process. He also noted that the APC's legal team is reviewing the judgment to advise the national leadership on the next steps.
