Dickson Advocates Strong Opposition at NDC Convention

At the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) convention held in Abuja, Seriake Dickson, the former governor of Bayelsa State, asserted that the NDC, despite being only three months old, has gained unprecedented acceptance and enthusiasm across Nigeria. He stated that the NDC can no longer be ignored, contrasting the previous dismissive attitude towards the party.

Dickson emphasized the necessity of a strong opposition for democracy to thrive, arguing that Nigeria cannot afford to drift towards a one-party state. He noted that the NDC is free from internal crises and factions, and he commended Nigerians, particularly members of the Obidient movement, for resisting propaganda and intimidation.

Dickson announced that the NDC has adopted a historic resolution to zone its presidential ticket to southern Nigeria, aiming for balance and stability in the nation. He reiterated the party's commitment to ensuring credible elections in 2027 and addressing major challenges such as poverty and insecurity, while also aligning the NDC's ideology with that of the African National Congress (ANC) of South Africa.
