Dickson Dismisses NDC Internal Crisis Amid Primary Flaws

Seriake Dickson, the national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and former governor of Bayelsa State, addressed concerns regarding the party's primary elections during an interview on Arise Television. He acknowledged that there were shortcomings in the conduct of the primaries but firmly rejected suggestions of an internal crisis within the party.

Dickson noted that while some members expressed dissatisfaction with aspects of the primaries, this was a result of the challenges posed by the direct primary system, which is designed to create a more competitive political environment. He emphasized that the outcomes of the primaries reflect the party's internal structure and leadership rather than indicating turmoil.

Dickson argued that the level of competition within the party is a sign of its rapid expansion and increasing public interest, asserting that there is no crisis and that the influx of political figures into the party demonstrates rising confidence rather than instability.
