Diezani Alison-Madueke Testifies in UK Corruption Case

Diezani Alison-Madueke, the former Nigerian Petroleum Minister, testified at Southwark Crown Court in the UK, asserting her willingness to go to jail. During her defense, she denied ownership of high-value properties in the UK, claiming they belonged to business associates, including Kola Aluko.

She explained that her interactions with Aluko were aimed at resolving issues in Nigeria's oil sector, despite being aware of threats against her life. Alison-Madueke revealed significant discrepancies in financial exposure linked to oil transactions, initially believed to involve $200 million but later discovered to be approximately $1.3 billion.

She stated that she sought approval from then-President Goodluck Jonathan to remove the NNPC chief. Additionally, she discussed her diagnosis of aggressive breast cancer in early 2015, which required extensive treatment.

Her testimony highlighted the complexities of her role and the allegations surrounding her tenure as Minister.
