Bayelsa Governor Diri Mourns Ex-Minister Isoun's Death

Douye Diri, the Governor of Bayelsa State, expressed deep sorrow over the death of Professor Turner Timinepr Isoun, a former Minister of Science and Technology who served from 2000 to 2007. In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah, Diri described Isoun as a "colossus" in veterinary medicine and a significant contributor to national development.

He highlighted Isoun's pioneering role as the first Vice Chancellor of the University of Science and Technology in Rivers State, which laid the foundation for Nigeria's first university of science and technology. Diri acknowledged Isoun's leadership during the ICT revolution and his efforts in establishing the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

Isoun was also recognized for his contributions to Nigeria's space technology advancements, including the launch of NigeriaSat-1 and NigComSat-1R. Diri extended condolences to Isoun's family and the Ijaw nation, emphasizing the loss felt by the community and the nation.
