PTAD Launches Pension Harmonization Reforms in Nigeria

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), under the leadership of Tolulop Abiodun Odunaiya, is initiating landmark pension harmonization reforms designed to enhance equity in pension payments across Nigeria. This reform aims to restore fairness and improve the welfare of retirees while strengthening confidence in the administration of the country's pension system.

The harmonization exercise is part of the "Renew Hope" agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and marks a significant policy intervention since PTAD's establishment in 2013. The reforms will address historical disparities in pension calculations, ensuring that retirees who held similar positions and rendered comparable years of service receive equitable pension benefits, regardless of their retirement date.

The initiative is set against the backdrop of years of agitation for pension equity and aims to resolve challenges related to pension computation, moving beyond mere percentage increases in existing benefits.
