Abia Disability Commission Promises Justice for PWDs

David Anyaele, the chairman of the Abia State Disability Commission, addressed a group of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) protesting their exclusion from the list of newly recruited teachers undergoing orientation in Abia State. Anyaele assured the PWDs of justice, inclusivity, and a sense of belonging, emphasizing that the state government, led by Governor Alex Otti, prioritizes PWDs in recruitment exercises.

He instructed the protesters to compile their names, local government areas, contact details, and educational qualifications for submission to the Commission’s office. Uchechi Chikwere and Nkechi Ebogu, speaking on behalf of the PWDs, appealed to Governor Otti to ensure that qualified PWDs receive employment, noting that they were invited for interviews but did not receive employment letters afterward, unlike able-bodied candidates.

Anyaele reiterated that PWDs were exempted from the Computer-Based Test (CBT) as per state policy.
