Swift Multi-Agency Response Controls Fire at Navy House

On Saturday evening, a significant fire outbreak occurred on the top floor of Navy House, located at No. 41 Cameroon Road, Ikoyi, Lagos. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) received a distress call at approximately 5:12pm and dispatched its Shark Team from Lekki Base, arriving within an estimated 20 minutes.
Upon arrival, responders found the top floor fully engulfed in flames. Preliminary investigations indicated that a power surge triggered the fire.
A coordinated response involving LASEMA’s Shark Team, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Federal Fire Service, Navy Dockyards Limited, the Nigerian Navy, and the Nigeria Police Force successfully contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading to other floors and nearby structures. LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed that there were no casualties or injuries.
The fire was completely extinguished by 8:33pm, after which emergency responders conducted a risk assessment and dampening operation to prevent re-ignition. LASEMA urged residents to remain safety-conscious and report emergencies via toll-free numbers 767 and 112.
