DisCos Raise Alarm Over N100bn Unpaid Electricity Bills by FG MDAs

Nigerian electricity distribution companies are alarmed by the growing unpaid electricity bills owed by various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government, amounting to over N100 billion. The debt poses a significant strain on the operations of these distribution companies, with no clear repayment plan in sight.

Eko Electricity Distribution Company, among the hardest hit, reveals that MDAs owe them N100 billion as of November 2025. The situation is becoming unsustainable, with threats of disconnections and challenges in enforcing payments.

This debt accumulation is a major concern for the power sector's stability and financial health.
