NARD Issues Two-Week Ultimatum to Federal Government

The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has given the Federal Government a two-week ultimatum to honor outstanding agreements and resolve welfare and professional issues affecting its members. This warning was issued during NARD's 46th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Calabar, Cross River State, where NARD National President, Dr Emmanuel Ogar, presented the resolutions.

The association expressed concern over the slow implementation of agreements previously reached with the Federal Government, stating that the prolonged delays in addressing these issues have become unacceptable. NARD emphasized the need for the government to utilize the two-week period to resolve outstanding matters to prevent a breakdown of industrial harmony in the health sector.

Key issues raised include remuneration, career progression, professional allowances, excessive workload, manpower shortages, and overall welfare of resident doctors. The doctors demanded immediate implementation of agreements regarding improved conditions of service and professional development, as well as a review of existing remuneration and salary structures.
