NUPRC Reports 127 Million Barrels Supplied to Refineries

Between January and September 2026, domestic refineries in Nigeria received more than 127 million barrels of Nigerian crude oil and condensate. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), disclosed this information during a speech at the OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week 2026 in Lagos, delivered by Assistant Director, Operations, Prosper Omonedo.
Eniola Akinkuotu, Head of Media and Corporate Communications at NUPRC, announced these details in a statement. Eyesan noted that commercial disagreements had previously disrupted crude deliveries in the first quarter, but regulatory interventions led to improved supply in subsequent quarters, with 53.7 million barrels supplied in the second quarter and 45.1 million barrels in the third quarter.
Despite these increases, disputes over pricing and supply arrangements continue to challenge refiners. To address transportation costs, NUPRC is consulting on a domestic crude swap framework, which could reduce costs by $3–$4 per barrel.
