Dominican University Seeks Royal Endorsement for AI Conference

Dominican University, represented by Vice Chancellor Professor Jacinta Opara and Dean of Science Professor Tim Odiaka, visited Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja at his palace in Ibadan to solicit his endorsement for the forthcoming Global AI Conference. Scheduled for May 6-7, 2026, the conference will focus on the theme of artificial intelligence and its ethical implications for humanity.

The university, established in 2016 to mark the 800th anniversary of the Dominican Order, is the first Dominican university in Africa. During the visit, the delegation emphasized the importance of the monarch's support in promoting peace and stability in Ibadanland.

Oba Ladoja accepted the request and praised the university's growing reputation, urging it to ensure broad public awareness of the conference. He expressed optimism about the university's future as a global hub for technological advancement and cultural heritage, highlighting the importance of education in addressing the societal implications of artificial intelligence.
