Olubadan Warns Politicians Against Religious Politics

On the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, warned politicians against exploiting religious sentiments for electoral gain. He urged Nigeria to move beyond divisive tendencies in the electoral process, emphasizing that contemporary democracy should not be based on religious affiliations.

Ladoja highlighted ongoing security challenges in Ibadan, particularly incidents of kidnapping, noting that security agencies are making steady progress in addressing these issues. He referenced a recent kidnapping case along the Oluyole axis where three suspects were apprehended, and two victims were rescued.

Additionally, Ladoja identified land grabbing as a significant threat to socio-economic development in Ibadan, warning that it could deter investors and undermine growth. He called for traditional institutions to collaborate with government authorities to take proactive measures against these threats, including reviving local security structures and mobilizing community vigilance.
