Uzodimma's Infrastructure Legacy Praised by Professor Iwu

Nnaoma Iwu, a Professor of Political Science at Adekunle Ajasin University, commended Governor Hope Uzodimma's infrastructure legacy in Imo State, asserting that his investments have established a strong foundation for future administrations. Uzodimma, who became the 16th governor of Imo State on January 15, 2020, after the Supreme Court nullified Emeka Ihedioha's election, has claimed to have completed over 130 roads across the state's 27 local government areas.

Major projects include the Owerri-Orlu Road and the Owerri-Okigwe Road. The state government allocated approximately N297 billion to the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure Development in the 2025 budget, with increased funding for 2026.

Iwu noted that the administration's focus on quality infrastructure aims to alleviate financial burdens on future governments, contrasting it with past administrations that neglected long-term planning. He emphasized the importance of durable roads for economic and social development, highlighting the financial implications of poorly executed projects.
