NDPC Partners with NYSC to Enhance Data Privacy Training

The National Data Protection Commission (NDPC), led by Chief Executive Officer Dr. Vincent Olatunji, is pursuing a partnership with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to improve data privacy training among corps members.

This initiative was discussed during a courtesy visit to the NYSC National Director's headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, on Friday. Dr.

Olatunji emphasized that the partnership would enhance the acquisition of digital skills among corps members, preparing them for opportunities in Nigeria's growing digital economy. The NDPC has identified a need for 500,000 data processors in the country, highlighting the strong employment prospects within the data protection sector, which supports the federal government's job creation initiatives.

The NDPC plans to provide free training for NYSC staff and access to its Virtual Privacy Academy, along with certification for 100 corps members in data protection. This training aligns with the mandates of the Nigerian Telecommunications Act 2023.

Brigadier General Olakunle Nafi'u, the NYSC Director General, welcomed the collaboration, noting the importance of data protection in building confidence in the digital economy.
