Anambra First Lady Nonye Soludo Urges Flood Precautions

Nonye Soludo, the First Lady of Anambra State, has called on residents to adopt greater precautionary measures as flooding continues to impact communities in the state. This appeal follows a tragic incident on Tuesday where schoolchildren commuting to school were rescued from a flooded area, resulting in the death of one child.

In a statement issued in Awka, Mrs. Soludo expressed her concern regarding the escalating flood situation and its potential effects on families, especially those in flood-prone areas. She advised the public to remain vigilant, heed weather and flood warnings, avoid crossing flooded roads and waterways, and relocate to safer areas when necessary.

Mrs. Soludo also urged residents to maintain clean surroundings and avoid dumping refuse into drainage channels, as blocked waterways can exacerbate flooding. She emphasized the need for increased community awareness and collective responsibility, encouraging residents to report emergencies to the appropriate authorities and support one another during flooding events.
