Saudi Arabia Frees Three Nigerians Detained for Drug Trafficking, Lifts Travel Ban

Three Nigerian nationals detained in Saudi Arabia in August 2025 on suspicion of drug trafficking were released after investigations cleared them of wrongdoing. The Nigerians were found not involved in a botched attempt to smuggle prohibited substances.

The Saudi authorities concluded that the individuals were victims of a criminal syndicate's fraudulent activities. The Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the lifting of the temporary travel ban imposed during a security review.

The Ministry commended Riyadh for its handling of the matter.
