DSS Arrests Faisal Maina, Transfers Him to EFCC for Sentencing

The Department of State Services (DSS) arrested Faisal Abdulrasheed Maina, the fugitive son of former Pension Reform Task Team chairman Abdulrasheed Maina, and subsequently handed him over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Faisal was apprehended in the Karsana area of Abuja after reportedly returning to Nigeria secretly.

He had been on the run since 2020, facing prosecution by the EFCC on three counts of money laundering and conspiracy. Faisal violated his bail conditions and fled the country during his trial, which continued in his absence, leading to his conviction and a 14-year prison sentence handed down by Justice Okon Abang in 2021.

Following this conviction, the court ordered his arrest and remand in a correctional center. The handover to the EFCC is expected to facilitate the enforcement of the court's judgment, ensuring that Faisal serves his sentence in accordance with the law.
