DSS Arrests Two for Kidnapping in Niger State

Operatives of the Directorate of State Services (DSS) in Niger State arrested two young men, Aliyu Muhammad Bodo, 23, and Tukur Hassan Ali, 22, for their involvement in kidnapping and criminal conspiracy. The arrests occurred in the Tanangi village forest, located in the Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State.

Bodo and Ali are part of a five-man kidnapping gang that operated between Kwara and Niger States, with other members identified as Smallie, Tashaka, Dan-Sarki, and Turo, who remain at large. The gang reportedly kidnapped ten individuals on the Tegina – Makera road and received a ransom of N14 million from the victims' families.

The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police Wasiu Abiodun, stated that the DSS operatives transferred the victims to the police for further investigation and prosecution. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to possessing one AK-47 rifle and three pump-action rifles, which are held by their accomplices.

Recovered items included two empty AK-47 magazines, ten Android phones, five keypad phones, one NIN slip, and a brown bag containing N1,045,000, believed to be part of the ransom.
