Police Rescue Kidnapped Boy in Sokoto, Arrest Suspect

On August 8, 2026, the Sokoto State Police Command's Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested Abdullahi Buba, alias “Osho,” during a raid in Tudun Doki Village, Gwadabawa LGA, following credible intelligence. Buba is suspected to be part of a syndicate involved in kidnappings and illegal levies in Gwadabawa, Kware, and Gada LGAs.

On August 11, Sani Ibrahim reported the disappearance of his 10-year-old nephew, Muhammad Sufiyanu, at Gidan Madi Police Station. The boy had gone missing around 2pm that day.

Later that night, police intercepted two suspects on a motorcycle carrying a concealed sack. The suspects fled, abandoning the sack, which contained Sufiyanu, who was alive and responsive.

He was taken to Gidan Madi General Hospital for treatment and later discharged. One suspect has been arrested and confessed to the crime.

CP Hayatu Hassan Shaffa praised the officers involved and encouraged community cooperation with security agencies.
