DSS Charges Ansaru Leaders Over Terrorism and Prison Break Roles

The Department of State Services (DSS) has charged two senior leaders of the Ansaru terror group, Mahmud Usman and Mahmud, over their alleged roles in terrorism and the Kuje prison break in Nigeria. Usman, also known as Abu Bara, is described as the Emir of Ansaru, while Mahmud is referred to as Malam Mamuda.

The charges include leading a terrorist organization, funding activities, recruiting members, and planning violent operations nationwide. The suspects are expected to be arraigned at the Federal High Court in Abuja soon.

National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu linked the accused to various criminal activities, including the 2022 Kuje prison attack and other terrorist operations across Nigeria.
